OTTAWA, ON, March 6, 2026 – The CanVECTOR Network is pleased to announce the appointment of Stephanie Scala, PhD, as the new Co-Chair of the Research Coordinators Working Group (RCWG). Stephanie joins Jennifer Brinkhurst as Co-Lead, bringing a fresh perspective and a strong commitment to supporting the coordinator community across Canada.
The RCWG serves as a hub within CanVECTOR, bringing together coordinators from across Canada to support collaboration, knowledge sharing, and capacity building. Recognizing that research coordinators are the backbone of successful clinical and translational research, the working group provides a dedicated forum to strengthen their role and recognize their contributions to the field of thrombosis.

A Message from Stephanie Scala
“My name is Stephanie Scala, and I’m excited to be stepping into the role of Co-Lead for the Research Coordinators Working Group. I hold a PhD in Neuroscience from McGill University and currently work as a research coordinator at the Jewish General Hospital in Montréal. Over the past year, I’ve been involved in the PEITHO-3, PREP & GO, and CONQUER-DVT studies. I’m looking forward to working alongside Jennifer and contributing to the CanVECTOR network.
My Vision: As the Co-Lead of the RCWG, my vision is to foster a supportive, inclusive, and collaborative environment for research coordinators at every stage of their careers. Whether you’re navigating your first study start-up or managing multiple trials with ease (and a dozen spreadsheets), I hope this group can be a space to connect, share, and grow together. I look forward to working with Jennifer to build a group that truly serves the needs of coordinators across the network.”
