Dr. Camille Simard is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of General Internal Medicine and an attending physician at the JGH. Dr. Simard completed a fellowship in Obstetric Medicine at the CHU Sainte-Justine, in Montreal, followed by a Thrombosis Medicine fellowship at the University of Ottawa. She completed a master’s degree in Epidemiology at McGill University. She provides specialized care in Obstetric Medicine and Thrombosis Medicine. Her research focuses on venous thromboembolism and thrombotic complications in women.
Dr. Grewal is an emergency physician at Sinai Health and a Clinician Scientist at the Schwartz/Reisman Emergency Medicine Institute. Keerat is interested in health services research using administrative data to explore the care and outcomes of patients using the emergency department, with a focus on cancer patients.
Dr. Xu is a hematologist and thrombosis specialist at The Ottawa Hospital/Ottawa Hospital Research Institute.. Yan earned his MD at Queen’s University, completed internal medicine at the University of Toronto, and his hematology residency, Adult Thrombosis Medicine fellowship, and an MSc in Epidemiology at the University of Ottawa.
As a former CEO of an Not-for-Profit in Ottawa, Carol led advocacy & education for members, contributing to Canadian and global discussions on trade, border management, and supply chain security. She advised the Auditor General and chaired the World Customs Organization’s Private Sector Group, with capacity-building roles in the Americas, Laos, and Vietnam.
Dr. Liederman is a clinical hematologist and an assistant professor in the Department of Medicine at The University of Toronto and the University Health Network. Dr. Liederman has a diverse hematology practice with a clinical focus on the management of venous thromboembolism.
Dr. Mithoowani is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine, McMaster University and works as a clinical hematologist at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton where his practice is focused on non-malignant and thrombotic blood disorders.
Dr. Kimpton is a hematologist, thrombosis physician, and Associate Scientist at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute, and an assistant professor at the University of Ottawa. She trained in Internal Medicine (uOttawa), Hematology (University of Toronto), and completed a Thrombosis fellowship and MSc in Epidemiology.
Dr. Amye Harrigan is a hematologist at Nova Scotia Health – QEII Health Sciences Centre and Dalhousie University. She completed her MD and Internal Medicine residency at Dalhousie, followed by a Thrombosis Fellowship at the University of Ottawa.
Suzanne Dubois, from Brantford, ON, has been a Patient Partner since 2017 and a member of the Scientific Steering Committee since 2019. Suzanne is a graduate of the University of Guelph, past Social Services caseworker, part-time farmer and artist, and full-time parent of two teenagers.
Dr. Christopher holds a PhD in Formal Logic and Philosophy of Science from the University of Toronto. After 25 years developing clinical apps for iOS and Mac, he now focuses on machine learning in medicine. He is a patient partner and data analyst on a project using ICES data to better predict pulmonary embolism events.
